Natural Products are Always the Better Alternative for Your Body
Natural products offer a better alternative to the majority of cosmetic products on the market. If that seems like a tall claim, consider that the majority of the ingredients in major cosmetic brands are chemicals. You may think that these chemicals must be safely regulated by the USDA. Think again. A 2007 study showed that 383 cosmetic products for sale in the U.S. contained ingredients that have been banned in Canada, the European Union and Japan. The cosmetics industry is self-regulated.
Labeling of cosmetics is also a huge issue. All too often the ingredients on the label are far too small to read and even when you can read them you certainly can’t pronounce them. Many times the first ingredient in a cosmetic product is water. Other times the active ingredient that you are paying a premium price for is on the bottom of the ingredient list which means there isn’t much of the active ingredient in it anyway. Of course, if you are diligent you can review each product for safety and effectiveness, but who has time for that? Isn’t it better to start with something natural from the get-go?
Shea butter is a wonderful alternative to many cosmetic products. It comes from the wild karite nut trees of Africa and it is the perfect moisturizer, healer and skin protector too. It can aid in healing burns, scars and stretch marks as well as protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Plus, Shea butter contains vitamins A and E and has demonstrated both anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. Shea butter is found in many body butters along with a little vitamin E, lavender, rosemary, rose, and frankincense. Fragrances include lemongrass, lemon, unscented, mint and tropical. This exotic blend guarantees a moisturizer that is truly remarkable.
Essential oils also provide safe, non-toxic alternatives. Essential oils are derived from plants and they are effective on us because they permeate our tissues and are highly compatible with our cell structure. Lavender oil is especially beneficial in skincare as it is both soothing and it enhances new cell growth. More importantly, it has been shown to prevent tissue degeneration which makes it an important oil to add to your anti-aging skincare regime.
Rosemary oil is the essential oil to turn to when you are in pain. It has been shown to ease headaches, muscle pains, rheumatic and arthritic pain. Its’ ability to stimulate blood circulation and its strong anti-inflammatory properties account for its success.
Another great natural product is natural Blacksoap . Made from the bark and leaves of the banana, plantain, cocoa and palm trees it is ideal for treating eczema, psoriasis, acne and blemishes. It is also a great makeup remover, fights wrinkles and fades age spots.
As you can clearly see, there are safe and effective alternatives to chemical products. Natural skincare is safer, better for your one and only skin and is often far more effective and less expensive. How can you go wrong? Natural products are always better for your body.
